Refugee School Impact Grant

The Refugee School Impact Grant is designed to address the language, academic and cultural adjustment needs of newly arrived refugee youth. Kentucky school districts with a high ratio of refugee students utilize this funding to provide out-of-school time programming, specialized classroom learning materials, bilingual and culturally competent support staff, parent engagement activities and comprehensive school intake and orientation processes.

Resettlement agencies in Jefferson County also receive funds to provide school readiness programming and to serve as a liaison between refugee parents and the school system.
